Do you use Facebook?

First topic message reminder :

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to start  a  topic to see if there is anyone here on BD that uses Facebook and if so, what do you use it for? Do you use it just to chat with friends or distant family? Do you use it as day to day timeline of your life (yes, some people do this for some reason), do you use it to share photos and videos, do you use it to view pages or groups, maybe you use it to promote a bussiness or bussinesses?


I know that a couple users on BD that I know on a more personal level have a Facebook and use it regularly/daily while others have an account, but rarely ever go on it.


I also seem to always hear people say they don't use Facebook anymore, but they use Twitter and Instagram. Then if you try and bring up Facebook in a conversation, they say 'FACEBOOK! WHO USES FACEBOOK ANYMORE?' and I always roll my eyes because I mean its not like Myspace that died down awhile ago.

There has been so many changes on Facebook. I seen just recently you can go live on Facebook. I know it is only for a short time of 15 minutes or maybe longer. I haven't tried it out yet. I was plan on testing it out if I had time to. Still not a big fan of the messenger. I loved getting messages. I didn't even put the messenger on my phone since I don't need it. I still love Facebook just a lot of changes happening already this year. It will be some things I will have to get used to eventually. Other than that I love other features on there. These include how your are feeling or what you are watching or listening to. Another new feature was posted status update in a different color. I tried once and it was very cool. It seems to be popular with some of my friends too. Anyways that is just some more about Facebook I have seen so far

Indeed, the changes on there have been both cool and not good.

Well I found out that when you do go live on Facebook you can't play a song on there. A friend I had on there tried to play a Christian song from dc Talk on a Facebook live and it was taken down. But that has to do with copyright issues and also Facebook having their own backs with not getting in trouble with that on their website. I still would love the other messages back. I am not a fan of the messenger at all. There has been some good changes on Facebook. But other changes aren't so good at all, But anyone who uses this website has to get used to them when using it

Youtube is similar, but they arent as strict as that. Youtube will wait until someone files a claim to act on a video. Even then, it gives you the option to edit out the copyrighted content to get stuff put back up. Youtube has a pretty fair system going on for it.

not necessarily, if it's a copyright issue, you tube will remove the video right away

Just not sure how that has worked out. Since Andy has been live on Facebook playing his vinyl to test it out. His videos were still there. I know that would have been a copyright issue with playing music if it is on vinyl or however it may be. Anyways I was only saying this since I was thinking if I did play some songs on my Facebook live. it would be copyright even though the songs are Christian songs. But still interesting features on Facebook. Just the ads I keep seeing on there I have to let them know about since they aren't something I don't want to see it at all. I do have adblock so I don't see any ads at all. But it seems Facebook has cut down on ads since it doesn't block any ads when I am on Facebook. I find that to be very interesting

Isn't everything on facebook techinically fake news? I mean it is a social media site, not a news reporting site.

If I post about something on my feed and I wrote a blog post or something on the subject and link it to the post on MY profile, that doesn't make it true or fake news. It just makes it my opinion.

I think all this fake news is just proganda by the mainstream media to be on honest with you. I mean all the major news agencies only report what is good for the ratings. Any other relevant but not so exciting news is left out.

They don't like that people to other resources to find out such news and try call these resources out by calling them all fake news.

Now I am not saying there aren't websites out there that make up untruthful stories, because there are. I am just saying there needs to be a definitive definition for what 'fake news' is, because what might be fake news for me is not fake news for you. That said I think there needs be a criteria for what is definitively fake news, before we go calling random sites and stuff fake news.

I am not deleting my account there. I have far too many pics on there and thats also my main social media outlet for bgrn and here.

Well you can also go live on YouTube now. I just seen it is a new feature they started doing on YouTube. They must be following Facebook with going live. It seems to be a popular thing these days. But still I don't like the ads on Facebook. I just let Facebook know I don't want to see these ads and they say thanks for the info or thanks for the feedback. I see enough ads on the side having to do with groups or other things anyways. I won't be deleting my account either. I use it to share pictures or post videos some times. I also use it to share my favorite music videos or songs. Those are my main reasons for staying on Facebook. I do have a lot of friends on there too. Facebook isn't for everyone. Only people who like it or love it will use it. Tell people what they should do with their account should be left up to them. That is my thoughts

Such isn't always the case Brandon, as I have found a few videos that were removed after getting "three strikes". I've also seen videos get removed due to plagiarism-related problems.

am still going to deactivate my fb account once i figure out how, I'm sick of the notifications in my email inbox all the time

You can go to the bottom of the email and find where it says 'change notification settings' or something to this regard and once you click it I believe you can select 'no notifications' or something to this regard and click save and you shouldn't get notification emails anymore.

worth a look, but i'm still going to deactivate when i can figure it out
