Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
First topic message reminder :
Hello guys,
I recently got a new hd webcam for my set up. The webcam I got is the Logitech C920 Pro Webcam, which is one of Logitech's better webcams from what I can tell. The webcam is normally $50 dollars, but I got it for only $15 on clearance, which was the main reason I bought it. I plan to use it in conjunction with my built in webcam.
I have already tested the new webcam, and I gotta say for the most part it is an improvement from the built in cam, the color is more realistic and clearer and details are crisper (as they should be with a 1080p resolution cam). The only 2 things for me that are down side is the fact that the lens are not as wide angeled as my built in one (only 78 degrees according to the box) and so it has a narrower field of view. The 2nd downside I have with it, is that it does not perform well in dim light, when i have my flashing led lights going right behind me, the webcam is only able to make out a silhouette instead of my actual face, something even my built in webcam can do.
Overall though I am satisified with the webcam and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good, high definition webcam.
Do any of you have any experience with this webcam? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
Cool tip, maybe you can add that to your OBS tutorial, the one you will be doing soon, by the end of the year?

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
My OBS install is kind of a mess and would be hard to make a video at this point in time since i do shows every week i don't have the time to clean slate OBS to make a simple video right now
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
what i mean mess is all the slides and layers i have added now i would have to start from scratch just to make a video on OBS.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
Just make sure you label/name everything you add and you will be in good shape.DJAaronRadio wrote:what i mean mess is all the slides and layers i have added now i would have to start from scratch just to make a video on OBS.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
everything is labeled but that's not the actual point of the video the video is about getting started with OBS not a full walk through in everything that will be for a part 2 eventually when i work on it there will be 2 videos on OBS one just a simple walk through for beginners that want to get started with streaming and part 2 will be adding scenes ect. i like to split things up video wise so a 2nd video will be coming at some point to the BD channel

Hello all,
I've been thinking about this a lot as of late and have decided to leave things as they are for the time being. Aaron's suggestion about setting a 2nd cam up is a good idea however.

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
Your other cam is not HD Art so it would not look good using it for casting I don't think.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
I may use two cams to cast if I had to HD webcams but such isn't possible for me for the time being.Brandon wrote:Your other cam is not HD Art so it would not look good using it for casting I don't think.

I honestly don't know when (or even if) I will actually use two cams.

You should having 2 different angles to look at or choose from is kind of cool.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
So far my other webcam continues to be a non-HD Pluto webcam. I use this for skype video calls for now though.

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
i use my HD Cam for skype and for streaming to be honest the days of standard Def webcams are long dead now HD is the way to go for everything there art.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
Such may be the case but I feel that its a lot easier to have a cam for my BGRN shows as well as one for Skype.DJAaronRadio wrote:i use my HD Cam for skype and for streaming to be honest the days of standard Def webcams are long dead now HD is the way to go for everything there art.

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
When one is using a cam for two things, it usually means constantly having to switch settings. I for one have found that having one cam for my BGRN show and another for Skype is easier because there is no need to switch the settings.

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
not really art skype retains settings for the HD cam all your really doing is when your done with OBS you can use the cam for skype yes OBS has to be closed for the cam to work for video other wise it be using just the mic but no settings have to be changed Like i said time to retire your old cam and just get use to using one cam on your computer for things i know it's hard for you to change art but in all honesty it would be so much better using the HD cam for everything this way your not making it harder on yourself cuz eventually your older cam will lose support in windows 10 eventually due to a new updates rolling out ect.

Another idea which i have seen a lot of Youtubers doing is if you have a smart phone , you can use that as a webcam too. I have a few old androids, which i;m looking to set up as webcams and do some testing with OBS. Should be the same for either skype and OBS. Here are few videos, if your interested.

Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
The only downside to using a phone is that some phones have crappy cameras, especially when it comes to front cameras. If you have the expensive Samsung or Iphones these days ok yeah you will have a good camera. But a cheaper more affordable phone it will depend.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
and alot of times depending on your phone those OBS Plugins are useless it's better just to get another web cam and call it good problem solved.
Re: Logitech C920 Pro Webcam
My Logitech C920 remains as my primary casting cam as of 12:25 PM CDST on 8/5/2021.
