Do you use OBS?
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else uses OBS (Open Broadcasting Software) as a media encoder to stream their casts? I started using it about a month ago or so, it seems to work well. It doesn't use alot of cpu usage and audio and video run crystal clear once you have the settings right.

Re: Do you use OBS?
I did use OBS to stream video games. The stream quality will depend on your actual internet connection but I believe the software is one of the better (if not the best) tools to stream.
For example I have 100mb download, 10mb upload of internet connection and I could stream at a high quality. The only problem was my PC. I had to stream to a lower quality than my connection allowed because if not, my PC would lag.
Anyways it doesn't consume a lot of resources and as I said above it's one of the best tools to stream.
Plus it's also very intuitive and user-friendly.

I am currently thinking about downloading this program and installing it on my PC. No final conclusion on this matter as yet however.

Thanks for sharing your input Aaron.
I also use obs, I recently purchased a pc with better specs, in hopes of getting better quality out of it. First show was good, but not perfect because I gotta get the settings down pat.
Anyway my point is obs is good, doesnt actually require much to run and works very well. I do recommend it.

some site broadcasters are better than others, but sometimes it can be very hit or miss

Re: Do you use OBS?
Well personally I think obs is a really great software, especially when you consider it is open source, so 100% free to use every feature.
Re: Do you use OBS?
I have a very basic understanding it now, but would love to learn more.Brandon wrote:@Tigertankfan how are you liking obs now that you use it?

Re: Do you use OBS?
OBS does work well i only had some issues over the last couple of streams for the most part it's really good Broadcasting software i have done alot more with it over time for certain shows Like chroma key that i might venture into again eventually if it works right anyways
Re: Do you use OBS?
The main problem occurs when your connection is bad and the settings are too high. Thats when you get the frame drops and fuzziness. I usually keep mine on the lowest settings cause of this.
Re: Do you use OBS?
As far as I know, the OBS installation on my PC is basic but I have dropped frames on at least one occasion. I've also added a new display pic to my OBS installation but can remove it at any time.

Re: Do you use OBS?
I have heard from someone the newest update to obs is prone to freezing, but I don't know if this is true since I haven't updated my obs yet.
Re: Do you use OBS?
i actually went back to version 19 and it works just fine but the only issue i can't use my Hardware AMD encoding cuz it keeps telling me that my drivers need to be up to date so i'm stuck on software encoding for now kind of sucks that OBS Refuses to start on my Hardware AMD Encoding this is an issue with OBS now and it's frustrating as heck and it is starting to effect shows i'm trying to find a work around to get it to work for now
Re: Do you use OBS?
I've opened my OBS installation recently and have gotten an update notification. I was going to go ahead with the update, but remembered that Aaron had problems with the new version on his PC and cancelled it.

Re: Do you use OBS?
I don't know if his issues were related to the update or not, but may be best to wait a month to ensure the issues are sorted out before doing the update.
