Re: Train sets!
I think if you can find any way to fit your go-pro in and get the shot, it would be the holy grail of train videos and I would very much appericate the effort.
Re: Train sets!
well, like i said, the clearances are very tight, but i will see what i can come up with

Re: Train sets!
As MtvFan said, there isn't enough clearance for his go-pro camera to fit in the helix so a static shot of a model train rolling through this will have to suffice.

May be possible to work it someway.
Re: Train sets!
there's enough clearance if i leave my go pro out of its housing, so i may film it that way, but it will be a very slow ride because if it goes too quick, the camera will fall off

Re: Train sets!
i will see, because before the helix goes in, a reversing loop will be going in first

Re: Train sets!
the grades are in place, as is the 2nd level, but it's only partly done, and the rails are only partially down, so the trains can only go as far as the end of the tracks, so that means they can only run part of the way on the level

Re: Train sets!
I am still trying to completely figure out how the 2nd level benefits anything. May you explain in detail why this idea of a second layer was established?1mtvfan wrote:the grades are in place, as is the 2nd level, but it's only partly done, and the rails are only partially down, so the trains can only go as far as the end of the tracks, so that means they can only run part of the way on the level
Re: Train sets!
A 2nd level gives our trains another place to go and provides another area for operation and photos.

Re: Train sets!
it gives the trains another area run through and more storage space for more equipment

Re: Train sets!
not really, but it's more fun to have a 2nd level, because like i said, it allows more space for storage, and give the trains more area to run through without taking up additional spaces, because some spaces cannot be filled for obvious reasons

Re: Train sets!
Since MTV and I are insistent upon keeping certain areas of the building that also houses our model train layout clear (the building's electrical panel as well as the furnace and hot water heater), adding a 2nd level is our best option to accomplish the task I mentioned earlier.

SO are there any new photos since construction started and/or will there be more? I am curious to see how what it all looks like on your set up.

Re: Train sets!
I would have some new pics for you today (as MTV and I were working on the setup), but I forgot to bring my camera with me. I will try and get some shots for you when I go there again though.
