this piece of model train equipment isn't performing in the way that we had hoped. Such means that it has to be taken apart, its individual parts cleaned, then put back together again.

very much so, because it was working fine when it was first assembled and tested.

just an internal thing, because the gears of the motor are not matching up with the turntable bridge, which is why it is not turning, so it has to be taken apart and the gears matched up again

we don't know what happened exactly, but it has to be taken apart and matched up again before it can be re-installed

The assembly and installation of this took 3-4 weeks so the process of disassembling it, re-setting the gears, reassembling it and re-installing it will take more or less the same amount of time (nothing is assured though).

yes, the parts are factory made, but the buyer has to assemble it

Why do factories always do that? Is it too much trouble for them assemble it at the factory itself? What if a person is not that handy at putting things together? This world let me tell you.

There are assembled models on the market, but the selection tends to vary depending on what's being modeled and can be a little pricey. And the models that don't come already built do come with detailed assembly instructions.

yes indeed, but it is still hit or miss when assembling things like this. one has to be very skilled at assembling models of any kind

I know exactly what you mean, I have owned a model train set, nothing to fancy: a table, tracks, engines, the rail cars, tranformer, a sound box and a couple engines that can blow steam if you drop little water droplet thingys in it.

Just my opinion here, but most model steam locomotives with live steam are pathetic as the steam only wisps out rather than puffing out on the real thing.
