If anyone is wondering, Windows 8 was originally intended for mobile devices but Microsoft had to develop the 8.1 patch because many people still use a desktop computer rather than a mobile device. Unfortunately there's going to be a time when support for win7 (which is what I'm using at present) will end, but I'm hoping that this doesn't happen anytime soon.

That does make them  evil. That is the way of industry and bussiness, everyone is competing for the spotlight, that does not make them evil, Apple probably bought software a long time ago that was popular and ruined it. They just have not needed to in a while because their products sell briliantly. Also Sony is a major power in consoling as is Nintendo so that is not true.

Microsoft has a strangle hold on everything to do with that, so it makes it hard for any other company to make any ground, so they are evil

That is how industry is though, everyone has a strangle hold on something, every company. That is the way the world works, especially industry and business.

not true, microsoft wants to be the leader on the electronics world, even more so than google, thus their strangle hold on things, so to combat this, one must boycott microsoft as much as possible

Every company wants to the world leader in electronics or else they would not be in the bussiness. The owners of skype did not have to sell it, Microsoft made them an offer and they took it. They did not force the owners to.

that's been discussed already. like i said, Microsoft should have left skype alone. if it ain't broke, why fix it? Microsoft is evil

Agreed bgradio, the makers of Skype didn't have to sell it... they chose to accept the cash offer that Microsoft presented to them.

See the thing with your agruement is totally biasdely based, as was stated before multiple times, Microsoft making an offer to buy skype was a smart bussiness move, again it was just an offer and if the owners had put their foot down and refused to bought then Microsoft would not own it, the owners would. Microsoft making an offer for a popular software does not make them evil, it makes them smart. You may not like that they made the offer and bought skype because you use the software and the software has suffered degraded performance since it was bought. All these are your opinion and may even be true, but they are not evil for offering mega bucks for a popular software, no matter how much you like the software or what not, it is a smart move.

Well Mircosoft taking over Skype also added signing in with your Mircosoft account. I also see now you can sign in with your Facebook account. It was much better before Mircosoft took over. The newest version of Skype is really messed up. I know even calling someone on Skype doesn't seem the same but it still works. But there is one nice feature which is show anyone who you are talking with your computer screen so they can see what is going on there with the internet or even problems with your computer too

Yes that was a great improvement. I wish they had it on the tablet/Andriod verision of skype though.

win 7 is still popular, so it will need support for another 5 years at least

It will get it, Vista is still be given support as well. Only Windows XP'S support has run out.

Maybe so but my point was that Windows 7 will be recieving support for a while as Vista's will run out before 7's does and since Vista is still recieving support they will be supported for a while

what i have heard also, but i think vista users will be calling for more support and more often than windows 7 users will be

See some the links there, it is just how they set up their support system, it is the same way every time. Regardless of the amount of support required, needed, or not needed.

vista's always hit or miss, but mostly miss, because it constantly crashes on the user, but i am not putting much hope into windows 10, because every windows OS has a glitch and bug in it in some form

Not only that but the organization was sloppy. The way I see it, Vista was the evolution of Windows, they went totally different from Windows Xp and Vista was the result, Vista was the software to find where they screwed up in the evolution stage so that they could fix it in Windows 7. Vista made 7 as great a software that it is. Best software since Windows XP to this day.

not sure if there's anything to add to that, but added to the mess is the fact of Microsoft stabbing us in the back by removing the XP install discs from the store shelves, thus leaving us stuck with
vista, at least until windows 7 came out

How else would you ever be able to get people to upgrade?

this was not a grand move on their part, they screwed up with vista which made every one go back to XP

As I said it was the evolution software, they went totally a new direction from XP and after Vista they realized where they went wrong and improved it. If windows 7 had been before Vista it would be Vista. Without vista you do not have 7.

I agree, all I am saying is, if it were not for Vista we would be hating windows 7. Because Windows Vista is what made Windows 7 great, vista showed its weaknesses and made 7 strong. But without Vista windows 7 would not be so great.
