USB & Bus Mixers!
First topic message reminder :
Which type of mixer is better? USB or bus mixers? A USB mixer is connected to the computer, routing the audio from the computer back into the mixer by simply selecting the 2 Track To USB, etc. With a bus mixer, the audio is sent through a TRS Cable or a RCA Cable. TRS cables have a quarter inch end which plugs into the bus mixer, and a 3.55 end that plugs into your soundcard on your mixer. The TRS function will also work with a USB mixer if you do not route the audio via the USB cable. I currently use a Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX which sells for $149 USD. It has built in phantom power which is needed for condenser microphones, 4 RCA inputs, And 8 channels, as well as on-board effects. I will not go over all the features on this mixer in this post! Hope this helps, and happy broadcasting!

Re: USB & Bus Mixers!
i don't like how Usb gives high Latency for audio in turns lags your audio when your streaming controllers are typically Low latency Usb but there is a catch it's mostly analog too it uses Rca cables to relay the audio to another mixer Usb is more for time code data of the mp3 or m4a files so you can use all the functions like fade up fade down for channel 1 and 2 and the crossfader it's all mapped over USB so the software it uses Like virtual DJ can read it While other mixers send audio data not time code data my controller does send time code data and audio data but the audio data part goes to the built in soundcard the controller uses that's where the analog Rca cables come in to turn the audio signal from the time code into actual audio.

Do you or anyone else who broadcast, how do you connect to the broadcasting site ? do you connect directly with the numark? or do you have a mixer board to connect too? just trying to see how everyone connects to the camup site.

Re: USB & Bus Mixers!
the idj3 only output's no input so i have to use another mixer to feed the audio signal with the built in soundcard it has i just take a normal set of RCA Cables to feed into another mixer for camup you Need OBS but that's for another topic

Connecting is easy, once you set up OBS you just set stream output to custom, then put in the rtmp and stream key that Camup provides and hit start streaming. That's it .

Well digital also usually leads to stuff breaking faster too though. Since everything made nowadays in the tech world has only a 2 to 4 year lifespan .
Re: USB & Bus Mixers!
well let's hope not brandon my old mixer lasted 15 years so i think if i look after the new one it should out last the one i have now
Re: USB & Bus Mixers!
That's true Brandon, but things are changing and lots of he new electronics if taken care of can last a few years. For example my cheap Vestex Spin mixer, it was made in 2009, here it is 11 years later and still as good as new. If you take care of it, you should have no issues, unless it comes from the factory defected , then thats a whole different story.

Well 2009 they still made things semi decent. But in the age of the internet and everything being cheap cheap, everything is almost pre built to fail after only a couple years.

That is true, it really depends on the company, some put out good stuff , while others put out crap
