Train sets!
First topic message reminder :
i am also still looking for some more cylindrical grain hoppers, and also anything of interest in the way of model buildings and track-side scenery, so feel free to offer some up if you have any laying about or know how to come about them

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, another update to share!
As of 14:35hrs on 5/2/2019, there is another 8 feet of benchwork installed in the former "Bedroom" section of the train room. We still have another 6' 3" of space left to install however (some of which, according to my dad's plan, is going to be a passenger depot complex). Unfortunately there will be some 8' 6.25" floaters between this and the previously installed benchwork due to the bed situation, but my dad thinks that it will be alright.
There has also been some talk of how to get the PLRX powered, but this has come to an end for now since the physical construction progress isn't complete... yet.
Please stay tuned as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
Another update to share here folks!
As of 14:45hrs on 5/4/2019, the remaining benchwork in the former "bedroom" area of the train room has been installed but there is a 2 & 5/8 inch gap between the last benchwork section and the wall (such is the exact same on the other wall however). The "floating" sections have yet to be created and installed at this time, but this will be happening at some point in the very near future.
Please stay tuned as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
If anyone wants to know, an early version of the "floating" section of the PLRX has been installed now (as of 14:30hrs on 5/5/2019). I honestly do not know if this will remain in place or be removed and finalized at this time however, as my dad has been building the setup in short bursts due to the (censored) stupid & mostly useless NHL playoffs.

Re: Train sets!
Latest update on the new setup here folks.
As of 15:35hrs Central Time, the "Floating" section has been installed now (yes, I said section as its a single piece) and its already created some distain (my mother has said that this will make it difficult for her to make the bed). My dad has no plans to redesign this part of the new setup however, so we will all have to learn how to live with it. There's also been a bit of concern regarding construction of the grain car yard (my twin brother doesn't like the fact that the lack of space will force us to crawl across the bed in order to access this area), but such can't be helped as my mother has recently reminded all of us guys that she is NOT willing to let us take the bed out of the room.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, got some rather disappointing and frustrating news to share in this post.
As of 0900hrs on 5/13/2019, my dad has gone back to his summer job (as a cemetery caretaker) so work on the PLRX has either slowed to a crawl or has stopped completely. I also need to say that such will probably be the case for the next several months and, while I don't like it very much, all I can do is learn to live with it.
Please stay tuned as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
I suppose I could. I will try and ask my dad about this when there's time.

Re: Train sets!
Unfortunately there has been a lot of things going on in & around my family's house as of late, due to roofing work, so I haven't been able to ask my dad about the possibility of myself and my twin brother installing the roadbed and track yet. I will try and do this later on today (5/15/2019) but there are no grantees.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
As of 0950hrs on 5/16/2019, there is no PLRX progress to share (as it remains stalled due to my dad's job obligations and the recent roofing work), but I will do what I can to keep you all informed. I will say that most of the latter has been completed now.
Please stay tuned as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone...
As of 19:55hrs on 5/18/2019, another small bit of benchwork has been installed but little else has been done due to my dad's job obligations. Unfortunately the matter has also become a little taboo recently, as my twin brother has started to complain about the lack of activity despite my continued efforts to explain the situation to him.
Please stay tuned as the construction progress continues.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone,
Sadly there are still no updates in regards to the construction progress to share as of 17:15hrs on 5/29/2019, but the PLRX's "Mixed Pack" train is getting slightly longer. With help from my twin brother, I have managed to purchase a somewhat unusual 4-unit well car from someone who was advertising it on a site called Kijiji. This person will be delivering it tomorrow (5/30/2019), and its delivery will make the aforementioned train 21 cars in its longest form.
This train will also be getting 2 more containers to carry.
Please stay tuned for further developments.

Re: Train sets!
Hello everyone, new update here!
The new car is here now but, much to my surprise, it's a somewhat unusual 4-unit car. Due to a lack of equipment (also known as a missing drawbar) however, one of its sections is being operated as its own car. This gives me 10 intermodal cars & pushes the PLRX's "Mixed Pack" train up to a maximum length of 22 cars.
Unfortunately this car suffered some damage while getting a problem fixed, but its been repaired sufficiently enough to warrant its return to PLRX operation.
As it isn't prototypical for a multi-unit car to be operated in this manner, I'm hoping that help from a hobby store owner will resolve this matter (My twi brother and myself each own and operate a section of a former 3-uint well car whose B section was destroyed somehow in the above train though). Sadly this will knock the above train's maximum length down a bit (to 21 cars), but sacrifices need to be made sometimes.
Please stay tuned for further updates as the PLRX saga continues.
