Train sets!
First topic message reminder :
i am also still looking for some more cylindrical grain hoppers, and also anything of interest in the way of model buildings and track-side scenery, so feel free to offer some up if you have any laying about or know how to come about them

Re: Train sets!
well, there will be, just not for me, which is depressing because it means a large chunk of my summer has gone down the toilet again for a 4th or 5th year straight, and it also means my train equipment is forced to remain in the box for another year, a shame too, because i am preparing a new grain hopper for runs on the rails, but i guess it will just have to wait in the box like every other piece of train equipment i have, and with the way things are going, it's likely there will be no train set at all

Re: Train sets!
further update, i may be back in, because i've been toying with an idea for temporary seating in my house basement, so my newest grain hopper may get to run with it's counterparts after all once it gets back from the refit in the shop

Re: Train sets!
1mtvfan is welcome to become a part of the new setup if he wants to but he still has to wait until the matter currently known as "Liptonville" has been successfully resolved (a.k.a. sold to a new owner). While there is some progress in this matter (as of last week), I'm still not entirely sure when it will come to an end. Moving on a bit, I've been counting all of the model grain cars that are owned by myself and 1mtvfan recently. It turns out that there are 37 of these cars between the two of us (including 1mtvfan's newest one), but only 36 of them are active at this time (as the 37th one is currently in a state of disrepair). I also have to say that we each have another 2 grain cars coming.

Re: Train sets!
Update from me here folks!
I am still searching for someone who can build and/or repair my newest cylindrical grain hopper and I will not be getting any newer cylindrical grain hoppers for the time being (due to my supplier needing to concentrate on getting his business relocated to a new building).

Re: Train sets!
further update,
my custom tunnel has been altered and will be further customized due to space restrictions on my boss's layout at the business location, body mounting of couplers on CPWX 425180 has begun, but will have to resume tomorrow, as time elapsed much faster than was realized today.

body mounting has to wait, as more weights are needed on the hopper itself

Re: Train sets!
I may still be out of the new setup, but i am waiting to see if the BS rules about train length and weight will be installed on the new train set, because if they carry over, i will pull up my stakes and refuse to operate on the new train set as well.

Re: Train sets!
Unfortunately I'm not entirely sure about the length & weight rule getting implemented for the new setup at present (due to the issues of getting the most recent setup's home sold, the uncle of myself and 1mtvfan getting his current feline resident a new home and finding an apartment being the priorities right now) but I suspect that it will be used. I have to say that I'm disappointed to see that this matter continues to be a source of contention but I for one am trying quite hard to keep my emotions under control.

Re: Train sets!
well i refuse to operate on a leash, if i can't run my a train as long as i can, i wont be operating at all, and that's the way it's going to be forever, the whole BS rules about length and weight was how i lost a good chunk of liptonville, that was bad enough, i don't need them to proove cause for me to leave the new train set as well

Re: Train sets!
Two quick updates here folks,
The uncle of myself and 1mtvfan has managed to find a new home for his feline companion and is moving out of Liptonville's former home on this coming Tuesday. Unfortunately we still have a lot of things to do before this place is ready for its new owners to take possession, so construction of the new setup probably won't be happening until sometime in June (and there's no guarantees with that either, owing to employment and volunteer obligations).

Re: Train sets!
One never truly knows with this sort of thing, plus the area that is supposed to be housing the new setup is scheduled to get repainted. There is one other thing that needs to be done in this area too (installing some window netting underneath a heating vent cover in order to ensure that no small parts are lost in/after derailments), but the repainting work has yet to start due to no painter being hired and other priorities (a.k.a. working a job to get money that is used to buy food and other much-needed supplies). I'll admit that all of these complications and delays are very disappointing and frustrating, but the only thing to do is not let it bother us too much and focus on other activities that we enjoy doing.

I am sure it will get rebuilt sometime soon. Compared to life, things like Train Sets are secondary.
