Sorry if this makes me sound heartless and judgmental, but there isn't a lot that comes without a price these days.

I don't know why saying that would make you sound heartless or judgement. What you said is very very true, it is sad, but true. Everything revolves around money, there are very very few things anymore that don't revolve around money .

well, charging a fee for 911 on a cell phone is just highway robbery, but they all charge it because they know they can, although some providers are now losing customers because of that and other reasons

I agree, although I could understand charging it if it is not a ligit 911 call and someone is not using it for an emergency. For a geniune emergency they should never do so though.

I don't think they should charge for 911 calls. It is crazy and bogus and ought to be illegal. It is as crazy as Canada allowing people to be charged for Ambulance rides.

I complety agree with you on that though.

i get charged 0.99 for each 911 call on my provider's plan

Some in the usa do not charge at all as well. When I had to call 911 from my t-mobile phone when my Lincoln caught fire, I do not believe they charged us for it

again, it depends on the carrier you've got service with. 0.99 a call for 911 is nothing, it's pennies

No it's isn't Canada at all since it is based more in the USA

Verizon is based in the USA,  but did try to make an entry into Canada. Canada's Big 3 blocked the attempt however and the company hasn't bothered to make another attempt.
