Re: Train sets!
Effective immediately, I will also refrain from making posts in this thread for the rest of this year. This choice doesn't affect/improve the situation between myself & 1mtvfan (as this will likely drag on for the foreseeable future), but it will most likely make the BD a better and more comfortable place to be for the other forum members.

Re: Train sets!
Guys you do not have to stop posting completely. Me and Brandon are simply asking that you do not fight. There is no need for it, especially on BD. As long as you don't fight, we don't care what you do.
Re: Train sets!
well, taking us off topic, but maybe a break for this thread is in order for a while, given how much venom has been spread around.

Re: Train sets!
I still don't know why someone would boycott their own hobby and train set. I mean doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having that hobby and trainset?
I am of course, not trying to stir up anything here on BD and I expect any reply to be professional and adult like. My statement/questions is purely out of curiousity and my own opinion. If you can not reply to it professionally or like an adult, then please do not answer/reply to it at all. If you can and will do it professionally or like an adult, then of course please do reply.

well, it has been almost 2 or 3 years since the lines were laid down, so it is about time to get started on the landscaping, so i am waiting for that to happen, and will wait as long as it takes

Why don't go and start working on the landscape yourself? I mean I doubt any one will stop you. Just go to the session and start putting it up if that is what you really want to do. Not attending the running sessions isn't going to get the landscape done on it, will it?
Just making a suggestion for you.
Re: Train sets!
only problem with that is the lack of the right materials, and i have no means of getting them without transport

Re: Train sets!
Then really no one can help fix the scenary even if they wanted to then. Doesn't sound like a fair boycott if no one can really do anything about it.
Re: Train sets!
the transport is needed to get more supplies for the landscaping materials, so without that, no more rock faces can be made and even if i could, the same material is also how the rock faces are going to be applied to the layout, and without that, there's nothing i can do, so my boycott will continue

Why don't you just order the supplies online and have it shipped your house? That wpuld solve that issue.
Or you could take a bus or taxi to the store to get some. There are many ways to get the supplies you need.
Re: Train sets!
can't and won't do that, there's too much security risk and the need for a credit card puts a wrench into the plan

Security risk? Not if you order from a well established company and retail organization. In fact I know of a train set supplies website/catalog that me and my grand father used to order from. Well established, reputable, honest and our products were all delivered to us. No security breaches or risks were involved. I will look it up and give you the link.
Or if worst comes to worst, you could still a bus or taxi to a store. There is virtually no risk to that one.
Edit: Ah here it is, 1st search result on top of google in the search. Lol
The website is walthers, been around for years and they are well established, well known, reputable and have great reviews. Like I said, my grand father ordered stuff for me through there and had zero issues and the qualities of the products are excellent. Best train set engine I ever bought was from them. Take a look and if you, order your supplies, trudt them they are good and safe with almost no security risks involved: [Only mods are allowed to see this link] .
Or like I said, take a bus or taxi to the store and buy it.
Re: Train sets!
i am aware of walthers.com, but as i have said, i lack a Credit card so that option is not viable for me, and the closest hobby shop to me charges quite a lot for its items, so i would rather not buy through them

You dont have a bank account? A debit card? Nothing?
Re: Train sets!
i have one of those, but the cash the store wants for their things is more than i want to play, and the next closest store is in a rather rough part of town

You have what, a bank account or a debit card? Or both?
Most banks will give you a FREE debit card when you open your account. You can use the card to purchase both online and in store.
Re: Train sets!
well, most online shopping requires a Credit card, and not a bank card, but i have asked my younger brother to help out, and he said he will help when he can.

Security measures? I thought we have established that walthers.com is reputable, trustworthy and secure site. Don't see what security measures could need to be imposed for a purchase from there.
