Re: Train sets!
I was there earlier tonight actually, and the uneven tracks between the drop bridge and the main layout are indeed responsible for the problem explained in detail by MTV. This has also created the issue of my bro's locomotives (and at least one of his newest well cars) to 'Bottom out" and catch on the unwanted "lip".

Ah ok! Good information there about your [Only mods are allowed to see this link] and [Only mods are allowed to see this link] .
Re: Train sets!
the "lip" can be rectified, if only temporarily, by making sure the edge of the bridge is in line with the
edge of the module, but it would be much better to eliminate this "lip" entirely

Why can't you?
Re: Train sets!
Unfortunately the floor that this setup rests on is affected by the yearly temperature change which means that the entire setup will rise and fall every year. Another complication is the piece of wood that the bridge is made from warping from excessive moisture.

Re: Train sets!
it' warped because of the heaving floor, and the damp, but this will be rectified with a thicker board as the bridge deck.

Re: Train sets!
the bridge is made out of 1/2 inch plywood, but the plan is to go with a 1 inch thick ply wood for the new bridge deck. but again it will not happen until the fall unfortunately.

Re: Train sets!
We may have to lower the main setup a tiny bit then, as a thicker board will mean that the tracks won't line up properly and our trains will not stay on the tracks.

Re: Train sets!
i doubt it, as the new board will be either 1 inch or 3/8 inch thick plywood to keep it from warping

Re: Train sets!
oh, it's not 3/8" plywood for the new bridge deck, it's going to be 3/4" plywood for the new bridge deck, just hope it won't warp as bad as the 1/2" plywood bridge deck that's in use right now

Re: Train sets!
the "plan b" is for the 3rd floor of our house become the train room after moving out the bed and desk and dresser from the one side of the room, and add some holes for tunnels as well as some "safety nets" should it be necessary for this plan to be put into fruition, although it's very doubtful. but the "plank under the bridge" plan is under consideration for trial to tray and straighten it out.
