Train sets!

i am also still looking for some more cylindrical grain hoppers, and also anything of interest in the way of model buildings and track-side scenery, so feel free to offer some up if you have any laying about or know how to come about them

it's still not making the year easy, so nothing but the building of the set will make me feel better. grain hopper is being made to wait, but have advised my boss to bring in some new inventory eg, some new grain hoppers, and i have been given access to look through the new inventory of them and pick out some for my own use

Got another update here folks,

After doing some counting, I have discovered that 1mtvfan and myself have a 46-car grain train when we pool our model grain hoppers (with 45 cars active, due to the fact that one car currently remains in a a state of disrepair). This will be getting longer however, as 1mtvfan and myself wish to get more physical examples of this kind of freight car. In addition, our version of a mixed inter-modal train (with shipping containers and road-going trailers loaded onto specially equipped flatcars) is 19 cars long when we pool our equipment.

yes, but we are still waiting on any physical tracks being laid down to operate them, plus when my newest cylindrical is up and running, the combined grain train will be 47 cars long, not counting the non running one but this will be possibly even further expanded by further acquisitions, but i am soon setting a limit on cylindrical covered hoppers, as they add up on weight and length quite fast, i will accept them as gifts, but after a certain point i will say "no more" and look to other types of covered hopper.

The number I quoted in the post preceding this one includes your newest cylindrical hopper 1mtvfan.

that's not running, so it does not count yet, it's still in the shop for a refit

Well then, this logic also means that the combined grain train is only 44 cars long (considering that I also have a car that isn't active at present).

To be honest, I'm not overjoyed about how slowly things are progressing with this matter either. But designing, building and operating a model train setup is not a top priority at present so all we can do is try to be patient and focus on other things.

I don't know there will be a length and weight rule on the new setup for sure but the person who did most of the work building liptonville will be the one mostly building its replacement so there's a very high chance that this rule will be enacted here as well. Lastly, this thread seems to have become a source of confrontation and division between myself & 1mtvfan again so I will once again be voluntarily avoiding it for a while... effective immediately.

and that may mean i will limit my time if i operate at all on the this new train set, also am looking for a few more cylindrical hoppers, but will soon cut it off and look for more square style hoppers and containers, or flatcars instead

update cpwx 425180 is till in the shop, hopefully it will be out tomorrow

update, CPWX 425180 is receiving the body mount of couplers soon, and will be hopefully out of the shop in the next few weeks

further update

CWPX 425180 refit should be done by Thursday or Saturday, i just don't know yet

also, am looking for some more cylindricals from bachmann, Walthers, or Intermountian, but not too many more, as i have a limit on weight for my trains

should get my new grain hopper back today:) hope the body mounts are done

update, no body mounts have been done on CPWX 425180, but am hoping for tomorrow

update, back to the foot dragging, new layout my not happen at all, am also testing an old cylindrical grain hopper for service on my grain train, should the new layout get built at all

all the lumber needed is still at the old liptonville site, so it's almost certain the new layout won;t happen till fall or winter
