Do you use Facebook?

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to start  a  topic to see if there is anyone here on BD that uses Facebook and if so, what do you use it for? Do you use it just to chat with friends or distant family? Do you use it as day to day timeline of your life (yes, some people do this for some reason), do you use it to share photos and videos, do you use it to view pages or groups, maybe you use it to promote a bussiness or bussinesses?


I know that a couple users on BD that I know on a more personal level have a Facebook and use it regularly/daily while others have an account, but rarely ever go on it.


I also seem to always hear people say they don't use Facebook anymore, but they use Twitter and Instagram. Then if you try and bring up Facebook in a conversation, they say 'FACEBOOK! WHO USES FACEBOOK ANYMORE?' and I always roll my eyes because I mean its not like Myspace that died down awhile ago.

Have you tried clearing your cache or trying a different browser?

and the thing for me is i'm still using the Old Layout of facebook i have not got the new version of the site yet and i don't think i will see it updated for a while as far as the mobile app goes nothing has changed much for me still mostly the same.

I also continue to use Facebook's old logo at this time. I'm also having some trouble accessing Facebook's messenger app on my very old iPhone 5c again but I know what the issue is now and can fix it at almost any time.

the 5c is a very old phone and more and more apps are going to be very hard to update when IOS is no longer supported so that includes Facebook and messenger will no longer get new updates for there apps.

Well, my phone is now having a battery issue now and I'm hoping that a brand new battery will solve the problem. If this does not make the problem go away, I plan on getting the next step up from the iPhone 5 (which is the iPhone 6).

Yes I clear the cache every time I use Google Chrome. I don't use Mircosoft Edge as it is just back up browser. Still having problems viewing the page for Chris Tomlin. Not sure what the problem is. I can see it fine on the Facebook app on my phone. It does show up on my browser only because I put it to see it first. Not sure why it is showing up at all. Thanks for the help Brandon. Hopefully I can figure something out

Have you tried viewing that profile in Edge? It sounds like a browser issue.

Yes that could be it. I will have to try it on Mircosoft Edge. I usually use Google Chrome but it could be blocking that page for some reason

i have not had any issues in all 3 browsers they all load fine for me and edge is normally my fail safe browser in case the other 2 fail to work.

It didn't work on Mircosoft Edge. It is finally working now. I can get onto the page for the worship leader who is Chris Tomlin. I also had issues with messenger as it wouldn't hide messages but it is working now. I don't know what was going on but it is all working now

there was an issue with the message boxes a couple of days ago where you would Minimize them and they would go away and not stay put you think facebook would just roll out there new version of the site already and get it done and over with but some people are still stuck on the old layout like me

Don't give them any ideas. I want to keep the current version as long as I can.

I was also having the issue Aaron mentioned but its gone now.

I got that same issue with the page for the Chris Tomlin who is a worship leader. I have it as see it first so I can see the posts that way. I usually have to go search it out on the mobile app on my phone. Must be a problem with Facebook since it works then it doesn't work. Hopefully it is fixed soon unless they are rolling out the new Facebook soon. I am so used to the old Facebook and I know it will take me a while to get used to it. I haven't even tried the new video chat they added on there. Not sure if it is useful or if it is just like a Skype call on Facebook in your room or someone's else room

thank god i still have the Old facebook when i use the computer and i don't think that will change for me anytime soon an some pages do have some problems and bugs it's just facebook's way of saying you have to deal with it and the thing is the app for IOS is far worse then it is for android i can't remember how many times facebook had crashed on me on IOS or something broke i'm just glad i'm not an apple user anymore facebook just works on android

Facebook works good for me on iPhone 8. I haven't had any problems with it. It does look a bit different but everything is still the same. I am able to get back on that page for Chris Tomlin who is a worship leader. Not sure what was going on since it was working then it wasn't working at all. It looks like the old Facebook I am on apart from a new things added to it. I haven't used the video chat on there yet

could be just a bug IOS has alot of bugs for some apps it's not perfect i had the same problem when i had IOS 12 sometimes facebook would work sometimes it was bad there is always bugs on the IOS Version of the Facebook App i can't remember how many times i had to clear app data for things to work cuz it would update so much and when facebook updates alot it get's bugs the more bugs the app has the less stable the release the app update is that's why i went back to android cuz facebook don't update near as much on android as it does on IOS and also the video chat thing is only a messenger thing they just put group video up on the facebook app so you can create Group video chat for messenger it's more like a short cut to create Group Video chat rooms in messenger i have not tried it nor do i want to at this point in time.

Well it seems to be very interesting. I haven't used the video chat at all either. I am sure I could do it on my laptop or my phone if I wanted to. It is working with Chris Tomlin page I was going to. Not sure what the problem was but it is fixed now. The app still seems the same to me with not much changes on there at all. Not sure when this new design of Facebook will happen but I am sure it will at some point

Facebook was also having an issue with comments on their posts for a while, but this also appears to have been fixed now.

out of all this time i have never seen any issues with facebook but a minor one notifications for pages and posts come in an hour late but that's about it that's the only issue i really have at the moment.

What issue was that?

i just got the new facebook Layout today i don't know about it yet i'm going to have to use it a bit and see if i can get use to it the only thing i see that they did very good on with the site is how they manage the message boxes rather then have them on the bottom of the page like they use to it is now set up almost like chat heads but moved off to the right hand corner to bring the message window you just click on the chat head like circle with the profile pic in it and boom the message box is back that's one thing i find useful so far with the new layout

I also received Facebook's new layout yesterday (7/20/2020) but chose to switch back to its classic version. Unfortunately this version will be discontinued at the end of July (according to Aaron anyway) so, despite my misgivings about it, I will have to try and get used to the new layout.
