Do you use Facebook?

First topic message reminder :

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to start  a  topic to see if there is anyone here on BD that uses Facebook and if so, what do you use it for? Do you use it just to chat with friends or distant family? Do you use it as day to day timeline of your life (yes, some people do this for some reason), do you use it to share photos and videos, do you use it to view pages or groups, maybe you use it to promote a bussiness or bussinesses?


I know that a couple users on BD that I know on a more personal level have a Facebook and use it regularly/daily while others have an account, but rarely ever go on it.


I also seem to always hear people say they don't use Facebook anymore, but they use Twitter and Instagram. Then if you try and bring up Facebook in a conversation, they say 'FACEBOOK! WHO USES FACEBOOK ANYMORE?' and I always roll my eyes because I mean its not like Myspace that died down awhile ago.

For now anyway. But very soon it will be unable to update, sooner or later Apple will end support for it. It was supposed to end at IOS 10 originally. So Apple has already supported longer than they wanted to. Which is good for users that still have Iphone 5 I suppose.

the reason why apple has supported the 5S for longer is cuz it had the newer A7 chipset in it and it still is fast even today and the 5S isn't as outdated as people might think it has an advantage over the normal 5 and the iphone 4 is that it got faster over time with newer version's of IOS now yes yearly new IOS Versions will be dropped and that's fine it will still get security Updates on IOS 12 long after 13 comes out apps will still update just everyday normal things will still go on and so will the facebook app for IOS 12.

That is awesome. You got a real old phone there. I do have iPhone 4 but there is no button on there that says to go live on there at all. There is only three buttons to press. I am guessing it must be a older version of Facebook that is why I can't stream on my phone. But I do have a camera on there just it is mostly for posting pictures or videos. I haven't posted anything on my phone using Facebook. I find it a lot easier to just e-mail to the pictures to myself and post on them on Facebook using my laptop using the picture files. That is what I usually do

I also have an iPhone 5s but it still receives FB updates... at least for now anyway.

i thought you had a 5c art not a 5s from what i know the 5c don't get any new facebook updates unless your an owner of the 5s and up.

I haven't used Facebook on my phone in a long time. It does work some times but with changing weather then it gets worse and it doesn't work on my iPhone 4. I am guessing at some point I will upgrade to a new phone with Facebook app on there. But for now I will doing it a different way which in on my laptop

I did finally upgrade my phone from iPhone 4 to iPhone 8. I did download the Facebook app. I stream live on my phone if I wanted to. Not sure if I will since I don't even stream live on my laptop at all. I mostly just one other live streams on Facebook having to do with my church or other ones related to Christian Music. That is about all I do on there for live streams

i now switched to android and facebook works alot better i did not like facebook on the iphone much cuz i had loading issues the app for the iphone just is full of bugs it did for me anyways when i switched back to android it is flawless no issues

I had no issues with iPhone 8. But I rarely use the app. I got on there if I do need to use it. But I got to figure it out first. My mom has a android and I don't like it at all. I also don't like the Messenger since you got to be signed in the whole time. But I am happy your love the flawless and bug free Android Aaron

ya i kind of missed it and i'm more use to android then i was with IOS while i did use it for about a year before the digitizer stopped working in the 5S now i have 0 issues with facebook and messenger is easier too since i have the chat heads that was one thing i missed that IOS Didn't have was the ability to go back and forth in messaging so much easier IOS version of messenger your always figuring out on who messaged you you had to hit the back button every time to see who it was so it was hard for me cuz now i can multi task on android IOS i couldn't they sort of lacked that with apple IOS is not a multi task worthy should i say when it comes to apps it was more of a pain

I am currently having battery issues with my iPhone 5c at present, but am hoping that getting a new battery will fix this. I have a plan if this doesn't work however.

well a new battery is costly and they have to take the phone apart to replace the battery it's almost not worth it but what you can do cuz i ran into this issue with my 5s when i had it was you can make sure no apps are running in the background that can drain the battery 2nd you can dim the brightness of your screen to get more life out of your phones battery if that helps

I know of a place that can replace an iPhone battery for $35 CDN actually. Such isn't all that bad of a price considering how old the iPhone 5 is.

not bad but they still have to take the phone apart just to get to the battery and even that is a task in it's self.

Yes the battery replacement isnt pricey, but it is time consuming and requires specialized tools. Something I find completely un nessecary.

The only thing with updating the latest version of IOS on iPhone 8 is I had to have it charging and plugged in. I did that so it could finally update the IOS for iPhone 8. I haven't used Facebook app yet on my phone just signed in a few times to check out some notifications but I haven't posted anything on my phone through the app yet. I am sure I will at some point

Most phones are like that actually when it comes time to update. The reason why is because if the battery were to die in the middle of the update, it could completely corrupt the os.

my battery is non removable but my back comes off for the sim card and SD Card only other then that i have not had any issues with the facebook app since i moved to android the thing i hated about the facebook app for IOS it was just Buggy alot of the time and i just didn't like it now that i moved to android i find the facebook app is more smooth on it have not had any issues since moving to android back in december

Thanks for the information Brandon. I had no idea why it had to be plugged in but that must be the reason for it. It only updated once since I got it but I am sure it would do that again at some point. I haven't used Facebook on there. Just signed to check out some notifications or some stuff in the Marketplace then sign out again. I am sure I would use it at some point

i have checked the facebook market place just for fun sometimes not that i would get anything from there but it's fun to see what items people put up on there if your into buying Used items

 I buy used items all the time, i even look on Craigslist.  Sometimes i get free stuff and sometime i buy.  I seem to do good at times.
